The UVM Health is thrilled to announce that we have achieved a significant milestone on behalf of our employee community. Forbes recently released its 2023 'America's Best Employers by State' list. Among the five Vermont-based organizations listed in varying industries and categories, Forbes ranked UVMH the #1 ‘Best Employer’ in Vermont this year.

Forbes releases a 'Best Employers by State' list annually. According to a recent survey from the Pew Research Center, only about half of U.S. workers report being "extremely" or "very satisfied" with their jobs. This list aims to provide workers who are "less than satisfied" with their employer – or people considering a career switch entirely – with a list of quality employers and better career options within their home state.

To compile the 'America's Best Employers by State' list, Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to administer surveys to over 70,000 workers, all currently at organizations with a minimum of 500 employees throughout the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. The employee survey remained anonymous to encourage authenticity and candor in their responses. Respondents from each state reported whether they would recommend their current employer to others. Employees evaluated their employers based on the following criteria: working conditions, diversity, compensation packages, potential for development, company image and more.
